PART OF SPEECH: NOUN

The writer has explained part of the speech earlier, so she is going to share material especially in Noun material.
The basic question before knowing the material in deeply is "What is a noun?"

A noun is a word that refers to person, place, thing, event, substance, or quality for instance Doctor, tree, beauty, coal, party.
Bali is a beautiful island.
In that sentence, Bali is a noun which has a subject in position.

A. Common Noun is a word that refers to a place, person or thing. There are five branches of common nouns, they are abstract nouns, collective nouns, compound nouns, concrete nouns, gender-specific nouns, and verbal nouns.
1. Abstract noun is a thing that we cannot touch or see it, but we can feel it. for instance,  joy, love, bravery, and etc.
2. Collective Nouns is a noun that describes a group, for example, a team, choir, and etc.
3. Compound Nouns is a noun that made up of more than one word e.g., water bottle, pickpocket, sunglasses and etc.
4. Concrete Nouns is a thing that we can see or touch, for example, tree, laptop, pencil, cloud, sun, and etc.
5. Verbal Noun is a noun derived from a verb, for example, running.
B. Proper Noun is the name of a person, place or thing (i.e., its own name). A proper noun always starts with a capital letter. For example: Bali, Mike, Fort Rotterdam, and etc.
According to the quantity, nouns are divided into two parts. The first one is Singular and the second one is plural. Basically singular and plural nouns are added s/-es however the irregular noun is not. Here is the example of a regular noun which added by s/-es and irregular nouns.
